Imagine if Starpharma had used this same VC model back in 2012 to create a start-up company with AstraZeneca to drive the development of AZD0466.
Guess what the value of Starpharma’s 22.5% of the company would be today after 12 years. A big fat ZERO.
And they would never have received an initial licence fee and they wouldn’t have received a milestone payment when AZD0466 progressed into Phase One from pre-clinical.
What a great business model that would have been … for AstraZeneca.
