I suspect lithium is just too expensive for grid storage, but it might set a floor on the price if someone figures out a cheaper way to produce. Cheaper alternatives are peak producers like gas and hydro, more off-peak users (EVs?), and storage options like pumped hydro. I think we will see big changes in retail demand. At the moment the end users do not even see the changes in the spot wholesale price of electricity, except for the off-peak line.
