This article is on the ABC's news website today (unfortunately the link would not paste) regarding trials conducted on BV in Melbourne (the HQ of Starpharma) with comments about the condition including treatments used.

The article refers to treatment as antibiotics or Clindamycin with interestingly no reference to Vivagel.

The following is taken from Vichealth's website today outlining the treatment options for BV. Again where is Vivagel, The non antibiotic treatment for the condition plus recurrence as approved by the TGA?

Prescription medication for bacterial vaginosis (BV)

An antibiotic (tablet) called metronidazole can be used to treat BV. If your doctor prescribes metronidazole you will need to:

• Take the antibiotic twice a day for 7 days.
• Take the tablets after meals – this can reduce the nausea and upset stomach that is sometimes associated with this medication.
• Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medication.

Vaginal cream for bacterial vaginosis (BV)

Doctors can also prescribe a vaginal cream (such as clindamycin) if you are unable to take metronidazole. Clindamycin is applied to the vagina for 7 nights.

Here we are reading the CEO's reports which prioritise the ramping up of marketing and sales of existing products whilst clinics in Melbourne are still using antibiotics as the treatment of choice. Is CM & co lobbying Vichealth for inclusion of Vivagel? Something I've approached them about.
