This has to be the most worrisome statement from the company I’ve heard in a long time as they struggle to licence the key, core and most advanced DEP assets within the company:
From last weeks QR: ’The licensing process has taken longer than anticipated, which we attribute to a range of factors including the evolving oncology landscape shifting towards targeted treatment options, and the current geo-political environment, which has impacted the biotechnology industry at large.’
I’m ignoring the utterance about geo-politics.
So it seems the company has spent 25 years and approx $250m ($250,000,000) in accumulated losses getting to the point where Starpharma’s core technology has produced 3 key DEP drug candidates that progressed to proof of concept by completing Phase 2 (albeit one of the three have already been shelved), yet has been unable so far to entice a partner to licence these DEP drugs to take into pivotal Phase 3 trials.
The company is now saying that an apparent impediment for licencing is because there is an: ‘evolving oncology landscape shifting towards targeted treatment options’
What the hell? This seems to be the mother of all red flags in my opinion.
P.S. Still hanging on to my 1000 shares in Starpharma until I decide to sell them for a nice bottle of wine.
