There are many members hidden away on Hotcopper who don’t. Some see the faux elitist snobbery, the patronising, arrogant, ageist, misogynists, the condescending finance pros or the abusive quasi finance pros all failing to realise that they’re on a public chat forum which is supposed to enable people from all walks of life to chat and offer opinions of all kinds, regardless of reasoning, method or strategy, and this makes it an intimidating place for many.

Note to all, with a focus to those who know within themselves that they’re the problem - wake up, step outside of yourselves show some empathy. Understand the forum isn’t a place to bully or demonise those with different backgrounds and different opinions. You don’t need to be in finance, you don’t even need to be an experienced investor to offer an opinion.. it’s not rocket science people, it’s glorified gambling.

I get there are some who’ve spent years of their life studying and working in the industry only for them to see others who treat it as a hobby or even complete novices achieve comparative or in some cases even better results than they.. but don’t hate the player. Whilst it’s serious for some its a hobby and some fun for most. Let them post without your judgment or belligerence.

Regardless of people’s position, you should embrace and welcome every post and not demonise or bully with arrogant condescension or worse still, those who actually think the child like threat of publicly announcing their intent to use the ignore button.. come on, you must know how childish you sound.

Sure, it’s ok to discuss and debate but only a coward hides behind a keyboard and belittles with snide remarks and condescending tones. Stop being so serious and wake up to the fact that you live in a world with many different people and that’s ok. Not everyone has to agree with you, or think like you, or invest the way you do.

I’m sure most of this will fall on deaf ears but some may just take something from this. Treat everyone with respect and stop baiting and trolling.. (by the way, stop using the word troll the wrong way just to insult a person who doesn’t have the same opinions as you about a stock).

It’s also ok for posters to change their views about a stock and share that.. it’s not downramping. Some of you need to realise that none of us have anymore than a mosquitos foot print of an influence on SP prices through a post on a chat room wall. The old favourite insult of labelling someone a downramper is old and puerile and is passed it’s used by date.. let it go.

In closing fellow HC enthusiasts.. just be nice and let everyone speak without fear of reprisal.
