I have to say that's the first time I've been offered a job on a forum. In truth I run my own business creating, implementing and managing digital strategies for SME's. I spent 10 years working for another company doing web development, database administration and systems administration. I left that role and worked in the aged care sector as a product manager, systems administrator, application developer and test analyst. While I was doing that I started my business as a side gig. I was in an annual performance review and my boss at the time asked why on earth I was working for someone else when I didn't need to. So I decided he was right, left that job then covid hit and my business took off and now I love what I do. Covid hurt a lot of small business owners and it was a great feeling to be able to help people when they really needed it.
I believe there are many smart people that post on the IOU thread and elsewhere on Hotcopper. I appreciate your sentiment though, it's always nice to get a compliment.
It means a lot to me because when I was in grade 12 I was in a serious motor vehicle accident. I suffered brain damage to the degree of losing a lot of my memory and having to learn how to talk and walk again. Needless to say, it was a tough time. Something like that makes you really appreciate what you have. I spent many, many years teaching myself various things such as economics, information technology, business and finance. I didn't realize until years later that when you learn many different fields like this your knowledge starts to find links between different areas and the more you know the easier it is to learn new things. This is something that Elon Musk has taken advantage of and why he is able to dominate in so many different fields. The most valuable thing I learned though was that we have complete control over how we think. We can perceive a situation as terrible or we can see it as a great opportunity. It's all in our state of mind.
I've been investing for quite a few years now and I've done quite well. I paid off my house and live a comfortable life. I don't say that to brag either, many people have done that and have achieved much more than I have. I say it to provide some credibility to what I post here. IOU is a fantastic opportunity. While they haven't grown as much as some anticipated, they are far from being out of the game.
Stock picking is something I've been rather good at and I could have quite easily exited out of IOU completely at the peak and been quite happy, I only took a small percentage of profit to pay myself for the time I put in to researching it. I see a much bigger win on the cards as the business grows. While others disagree I believe management have the expertise to carry the business toward success. The business doesn't need to be the leader, it just needs to be in the race. The other important point is that the business has only really been operating BNPL since June this year. To think what has actually been achieved in that timeframe is quite amazing.
Anyway, I hope we all do as well as I believe we will. Thanks again for the compliment, enjoy your weekend.
