Does anyone know whether razer, gojek and all these other competitors have a money lending license in their respective areas of commerce?
In March 2020, Afterpay was peppered by regulators for providing 'illegal loans', I wonder if its just about time the government clamps down on this in asia. If the competitors dont have the licence or a bank partner that has one, this will severely affect their revenues.
Micro financing has always been part of life in South East Asia so its no wonder the market is growing and adoption is seamless but is more prone to political environment. Govt always has their hand out or want a slice of the pie.
