there are any number of platitudes that can be spouted at times like this - no matter how you want to spin it, the market is a type of casino. any time you enter the market you are putting down a bet because you think you can predict the future. and just like the the casino - sometimes you can get it horribly wrong. in the case of MCO the roulette wheel is still spinning but we are all guessing at where the ball will stop at some point in the future.

the old maxim still stands - if you can't afford to lose then you can't afford to gamble.
