This article from last year is beginning to make more sense now due to recent development.
ARM's main rival is the RISC-V architecture which seems to accommodate AI platforms quite well including Akida (i.e, via SiFive), hence ARM needs its latest Cortex-M85 architecture to be successful and it has validated Akida integration for edge AI devices.
Renesas is the first to tape out a chip using Cortex-M85 architecture and will have Akida integrated for any developers wanting edge AI.
As you can see the balance of power is now tilting towards Brainchip, given that Akida has recently been awarded the prize for the best embedded edge AI IP.
ARM-Renesas-Brainchip-Edge Impulse has become a great symbiosis in the edge AI space...I can't think of any combination that can beat this!
It's taken almost a year since ARM announced the Cortex-M85 and for Renesas to be the first to tape out a chip with it...it will take another 6 months for Renesas to release the taped out version with Akida, so hopefully next year we can experience the first commercial device(s) with Akida and the cascade effect will happen thereafter.
The question on everyone's mind is when is it a good time to buy Brainchip...any time from now is my opinion...enjoy the journey and it will be fond memories when we all look back in 5-10 years time
