No not quite as simple as that mate! I was classified as a Trader or an Investor depending on the intention I had when I first purchased a stock. Had to advise them of my intent on an annual basis, i.e. at tax return time, which was well after the stock purchase date for the stocks that I decided to hold for over 12 months. All in the past now as SMSF don't pay tax on earnings from pension phase funds.
