Mono’s are required at every underground mine. It’s a component of the standard dewatering process and by no means a sign of excess water.
Water will always flow to the lowest point in a mine (ie decline face) face pump will send to nearest sump. Sumps are developed regularly along the decline and often at ore access drives.
Flyght pumps all though powerful do not have the balls to send water that far vertically. Hence Mono stations are put in at strategic collection points. Mono’s are simply a screw pump which can pump a lot of head. They are in no way special or unique to this project
