    How so?

    We know that stuff has properties and we know that stuff is caused. If you can think of some stuff that isn't caused then please let me know.

    We know that God has properties and one of properties, by necessity, is that God is uncaused. If God is uncaused then it makes sense that he did not have a beginning. Stuff is caused and therefore did/does have a beginning.

    Just as stuff has a beginning it also has and end, even the universe itself is expected to end up in cold heat death somewhere down the track. In the same way, if a being has no beginning then it's logical that it also has no ending and is therefore eternal.
