A classic example of Abbott's appallingly poor judgement of people was his three week defence of Bronwyn Bishop. Three weeks, he stuck by the Queen Rorter at huge personal cost. And then she votes for Turnbull because Abbott finally asked her to step down.

As for Abbott leading the LNP to victory at the last election? Truth is Gillard (and Rudd) was so roundly despised by everyone that even Kim Jong Un or Robert Mugabe would have led the Libs to a landslide win.
