Most people look for a familial identity. Many can look back at defeat, struggle and sporadic success.
I suspect aboriginal culture can't get past defeat and struggle, with any token success still at the whims of non aboriginals. There is no glorious victory over repression that punctuates their family or clan history since colonial times.
