the whole race identification is pretty much a furphy these days as we are all humans really and to separate each other out based upon some unmeasurable subjective approach seems very odd.
even to handing over of land rights to certain clans will be problematic in the future which aboriginal peoples will have to deal with when they negotiate mining or tourist deals and then try to share out the profits to each growing clan with more and more children coming into the clans.
anyway it is food for thought and open to corruption jus5 ask that Pascoe bloke!

Most people look for a familial identity. Many can look back at defeat, struggle and sporadic success.

I suspect aboriginal culture can't get past defeat and struggle, with any token success still at the whims of non aboriginals. There is no glorious victory over repression that punctuates their family or clan history since colonial times.
