Just for the record my position is and always has been:
1. Ban short selling: it's original purpose was left behind forty years ago.
2. Ban the bots: if brokers wish to trade one share at a time maybe they could outsource the function to a Manila Call Centre.
Regardless of how the SP attained it highs of 40 cents odd, shorters took $750 million out of shareholders pockets. Rob a bank of that sum of money and see how the law responds.
