They can do a hip replacement with 7-10cm incision now. Anterior approach- even after watching the procedure it still seems like witchcraft.
Hope you have a good recovery-collar bones are typically pretty good- not too much strain through the bone on most day to day movements helps. I've seen a few old guys who fractured and ignored their collar bone (no treatment) and it sometimes turns into what's called a pseudo arthroses (pretend joint). Aside from being medically interesting it rarely causes dramas.
