Problem is, this country has lost it's way...it isn't the Government, it is the whole country gone nuts...
There is no planning for the future...at all. It is a total shot gun approach with each State going it's own way. It believe it is going to end very badly.
We have a State such as Victoria shutting down coal fired power stations that generate electricity at a known cost day in and day out. They instead are throwing up these very expensive wind things, (fully imported mind you), that have no base power production cost...Dan the man would really have no idea from one day to the next how much it will cost to send a megawatt of power down the line.
The cost of a this megawatt swings wildly from plain expensive to the ridiculous all in 24 hours. The cost of these contraptions is rarely mentioned, or indeed factored in to the overall electricity cost equation. It seems they just appear out of nowhere. They all of course will need the blades replaced and many other components as they have a time limit on them, just like an aircraft propeller.
EV's have been mentioned, the little problem here is for example, Victorian Government threatens "blackouts" each summer now as the State already does not generate enough electricity to meet the city's current needs. If these EV's some get so excited about ever get anywhere near being accepted on any scale the Victorian power grid will go into meltdown around 5.30pm every single day....
"Renewable" power generation will unlikely replace coal & gas here, some places may be able to succeed in doing so, but I doubt very much India or China or the US or Russia will be able to do that. Even small country towns in Australia, that have a reasonably constant need can't rely on "renewables" as they are far too unreliable and fail way too often. Alice Springs come to mind?
This country never will rely on "renewables"...as we are just way too dumb.....mention nuclear, which is 100% clean and efficient and the Greens go in to melt down...
