yes, obviously insurer picks up most of the cost, but vast majority of prospective customers will still baulk at the prospect of paying their insurance excess to cover repair costs in this current climate.

ill put a very realistic scenario to you...let’s say you’ve been driving around meaning to get the dents from last year’s hail storm fixed on your car for a few months, and you work in the hospitality sector...and have both a car loan and pay rent...all of a sudden your employer tells you to stay home for the foreseeable future because there’s simply no way he can keep his doors open during this CoronaVirus issue....how big a priority is paying that $400 excess to get the dents fixed in your car now?

I’d say very low....I know several people personally in that exact scenario and there must be literally thousands more of them out there across the country right now.
