Sure, I can see the outward anger thing being a defensive mechanism, but I remain of the view that the underlying emotion is one of anxiety/fear. We so called old white guys no longer wield the power and influence we once did - mainly due to community beliefs and values that are evolving around us. These quite naturally reflect the beliefs and aspirations of the next generation who will have to live in our societies.

The so called "angry old white guys" are just a small group who happen to be noisy about transitions in society that they do not like. Ironically, these same noisy, angry old white guys sincerely regard themselves as part of Morrison's "Quiet Australians". They are not.

It is only right that the generation following us take the lead in where societal beliefs and values go. That is not to say that old white guys are not able to participate in such progress. All manner of people have something to contribute to the progress of society.
