The Federal Government's plan to restrict welfare for anti-vaxxers does little to tackle the problem at its source: some people think they are making the right decision to not vaccinate their children. We should also wonder about the precedent this will set, writes Trisha Jha.

The majority of non-vaccinating parents are not welfare bludgers at all, these are working parents who will be denied the childcare rebate. What is the next step by the government? Force pensioners into having Flu vaccines or adult boosters shots or be denied their entitlement to the pension?

One could almost make sense of this move if it was shown that there was an undue increase in the childhood disease stats, but quite the opposite as per the WHO stats. The current system is working fine just as it is. There will ALWAYS be a percentage of the population who won't be immune, even those who HAVE been vaccinated have been shown to have no immunity. Surely if your child is vaccinated, it is at no danger of being infected by the very low minority of those who don't have immunity.

Those who use religious grounds as an excuse will be exempt. Only conscientious objectors are being targeted (arguably the most educated on the effects of vaccinations and true vaccine injury statistics).

This is just Tony Abbott paying his political campaign dues to drug/pharmaceutical companys... (Bill Shorten will do the same if elected).

I've asked this question before and no one has responded. Have you had your adult booster shot, do you intend to?
