Worked as a ball mill operator on the hill at Mt Isa in 1957 - then as slag skimmer in the copper smelter - that was a hot job - no safety in those days the slag would explode sometimes as it came down the chute when we punched the clay dobie to skim the slag. Then worked for Thiess as a dump truck driver taking the hill away and dumping into the glory hole - back up to that big hole and hit the brakes.
