We all have those 'wounded soldiers' and 'closet skeletons' in our portfolios, no shame in that. Important thing is not to liquidate them (at least until you have CGT to cover) and learn from and be reminded of the mistakes made in the past.

I surely have lost upwards of 100k on the stock market over the past 5 years, but also gained a fair bit more than that, my lessons? Don't stop investing into Australian real esstate anytime soon, it has been such safe haven and a real wealth generator compared to the ASX. I'm basically just using stocks as a play thing these days, with the highest weighted investment allocation assigned to multiple properties around metro cities. At least for me, that had been the ticket out of the woods.
