Dabru, currently I think AXE is able to keep its trade secrets well. The qubit material and the control and read out mechanisms are all, shall we say, in a 'black box' that GF doesn't need to know the details of. It's the outer connections from black box to other silicon circuitry on a larger system on a chip or other type of integration that GF can help with.
Once the chip is prototyped and tested, but before mass production or commercialisation, the US gov will have to get involved to enforce export control, that could in turn get defence involved, if they feel the 12CQ's capabilities are too sensitive for general use. It could all depend on what the 12CQ is programmed to do in say a phone. There are many use cases. One is more secure/reliable GPS when satellites are not doing a good enough job or unavailable underground etc. Would gov and defence want that? Quite possibly.
It might all come down to use case. So far AXE is silent. Not showing their cards too early, is my impression. Interested in what you and others think.
