Nigel is aware that transport is often being touted as the Achilles heal of the project. He appeared very confident that this is not an issue. He explained a number of routes, east, west and south. With west sounding more likely with the others as backup routes. He joked that going west might suite European customers, well maybe it wasn’t a joke.
Discussions with rail transport providers has included specifics such as the type of rail cars we will want to work with, and of course the volume being transported. It seems there is plenty of unused capacity on these rail lines for AVZ to take up. Our involvement is a significant carrot to dangle for the transport providers and it sounds like we will be negotiating a good deal here.
Transport to rail via B double trucks, running 15 minute intervals (excluding flat tyres ). Road is around 200km that needs work to upgrade but cost for this is minimal, possibly completed this dry season. There seems to be little concern over who pays for this due to the low figures required. There are multiple bridges that are sufficient for our use, one requires repair work though.
Nigel mentioned President Tshisekedi’s personal interest in AVZ. This project will be showing visible benefits to the region in a few years, which will coincide nicely with Tshisekedi’s election campaign for the next election. This goes someway to explaining the considerable cooperation and encouragement being offered by the local government.
Nigel spent some time discussing Lithium sulphate and the pros and cons of processing this. I left the meeting for a moment during this time, perhaps some one else could elaborate on this further?
There was a lot more discussed, but I didn’t take notes on all of it. There were a few well known HC posters taking notes also, so I look forward to their updates.
I encourage all shareholders to take the time to attend events like this, or engage wit the company directly. You simply cannot get the volume of information, or its context via a written account on HC. You will receive a lot more return on your time than banging your keyboard arguing with strangers. There were some great questions from the attendees, most were answered well. Some Nigel appeared unable to answer fully, I cannot comment on whether this was because he didn’t have the answers, or if he did, but was currently unable to disclose them. Overall you have to decide if you have faith in what the company is telling us, and their ability to pull this off, or not.
For now, I am satisfied they have us on the right track.
