I hope they learn the lesson - the ACV as of a given date should simply be published instead of teased and then never delivered. Any subsequent material contract can be announced.
If ACV isn't the right metric then give us something else. I'd personally prefer to see a utilization metric (data points processed, stored, retrieved, etc). A client with no usage means the contract won't be renewed. A client fully utilized their contracted use will be renewed and likely increase.
