Is it not that you only pay $2.50 now for one share plus one option. If the SP goes to say $3.50 next year (or any time before options expiry) then the options will be in the money and trading around $1 each, so for a $2.50 outlay per share now and say the SP is $3.50 later your $2.50 per share investment is then worth $3.50 for the head + $1 for the option (Total $4.50).
Happy to be corrected and the SP must rise for this to happen...
