Au-AA26 method involves a 50g sample of the material being analyzed, which is then subjected to a fire assay process. During this process, the sample is mixed with a flux composed of lead oxide, sodium carbonate, borax, silica, and other reagents, and heated at high temperature to decompose rock lattices and allow gold within the sample to be collected into a lead button. The lead button is then subjected to atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) to determine the amount of gold present in the sample.
