The schools do not teach leavers about shares.
I was lucky, at 23 a stockbroker I was doing some building work for paid 10 per cent of my fee in shares and said" Young man I am going to teach about shares and set you up so you have a future fund"
His rules were
1. For 4 years he buys the shares
2. Read the Australian Financial Review every day
and most importantly
3. Stay away from his daughter!! His daughter was not happy.

He was my stockbroker until the day he died 30 years later.
I was his smallest client and his last client.
He gave me a hell of an education and I now educate my kids about shares and the market.
It is up to us to teach our kids, no one else will! Especially the schools.
