Sure the patient is going to have to come back on the second day, but it avoids the time the patient has to hang around waiting to get scanned on the same day. It will allow more people to be processed through the same equipment as you don’t need to wait for people to get injected or stop injecting early as there is no time left to scan that day.
What is more important for doctors and patients is making sure that if there are tumours present that they are detected. What doctor or patient is going to say “let’s use the test that misses half the tumours just so I don’t have to come in tomorrow”.
