What a beautiful morning in Adelaide we are having today.

    Science part.
At GICAN they have figured out a way to produce carbon nanotubes by starting with halloysite tubes, coating them with carbon solution and functional molecules, drying, using acid to dissolve the halloysite and drying the product. It looks like there is a chance that this may end up being significantly cheaper method of producing carbon nanotubes than current manufacturing process. They continue research on potential applications for these carbon nanotubes.

    Reality
One of these potential applications of carbon nanotubes (not halloysite) is CO2 capture. This has already been demonstrated by others as feasible and proven to work by GICAN achieving about 1g of CO2 captured in 1g of carbon nanotubes. Work continues to improve these results. This is what has been published in their recent paper.
The same paper where it states that the result has been achieved with CO2 at the pressure of 30bar. This is the "fine print" and anybody can give their local BOC or homebrew shop a call and ask what is the price of compressed CO2 they sell. It is significantly higher than 20$/ton.

Once CO2 is captured something needs to be done with it. One option is converting CO2 into methanol. This is feasible and proven technological process. There are reasonably large installations in Europe where this has been demonstrated to work. Quite a few links to different papers, companies and government organisations involved have been posted in the Carbon Capture thread. One issue stands out, it costs around 1,900$/t to produce methanol using this method, current price of methanol is 430$.

We can go and do some reading of what has been published, tested and works.

Or as Pezz suggests we can add the clues, listen to rumors of meetings, understand that things at ADN move at "warp speed"...
