As promised here is a short text on Communism and dairy farming in Uganda
In the 1970s, Uganda was under the rule of President Idi Amin, who sought to implement a socialist system based on communist principles. As part of this system, Amin nationalised many industries, including the dairy industry.
Under communism, the means of production are owned and controlled by the state, and all resources are distributed equally among the population. In Uganda, this meant that the government took over the operations of many dairy farms and processing plants, and all profits were funnelled back into the state.
While this system was intended to benefit the people, it had several negative impacts on the dairy industry. The government had little experience or expertise in running these businesses, and many of the farms and processing plants were poorly managed and maintained. This led to a decrease in productivity and quality, as well as a lack of innovation and investment in the industry.
Additionally, the government's focus on equal distribution of resources meant that some farmers and businesses were unfairly prioritized over others. This led to resentment and division within the industry, as well as a lack of motivation to improve operations or innovate. The government's mismanagement and focus on equal distribution of resources led to a decrease in productivity and quality, as well as a lack of innovation and investment.
