The resin beads can be stored and would only be sourced when needed.

They do lose efficiency after numerous cycles, they are regularly recycled. I'm not sure whether we intend to use an acid strip or not. Can't remember which route PEN they've gone, if they've disclosed it. Usually stripping the U from the beads involves a significant change in pH. Reversing of charge releasing the U.

However, if you try to go from acid to base you use a lot of the pH modifier, usually NaOH which involves cost. So what you do is wash with distilled water in between. That also helps flush organics and rubbish (fine clays etc .).

As I noted before it's highly akin to AAL stripping of loaded carbon in leach (CIL) gold processing.
