LMG may've found it cheaper to ship the brown coal fly ash to Sarawak to do the demo plant than to do it in Victoria.
The power cost in Victoria will be a killer with the expected increase in wholesale power costs increasing by 100% in 2023 -2024 over current costs. This was published a few weeks ago and to be implemented shortly.
Glad I don't live in Victoria.
There is no doubt that LMG will struggle to be competitive when producing in Victoria. This price is at least 4 x higher than for Chinese magnesium producers. Using this power price it will cost US$6,240/tonne just in power costs.
Might be cheaper to instal their own diesel generators.
