New Acland Coal don't actually pay coal royalties due to the nature of title of the freehold land on which the majority of the mine is located. They pay royalties to the owner land, which in most cases is themselves. Dare I suggest that this could be one of the key reasons why there is limited love coming from the QLD Government towards this project.
