Positives of gas is that it is quick and easy to install and run at existing sites , can help harden and create a distributed energy network and a good infill for peaking and there is downsides as well - cost , greenhouse etc. We have to remember the true cost of wind and solar without rebate when there is a oversupply in the future as they are pushing up average cost of electricity that affects whole economy and that affects industry and inflation going forward .

And that ofc is the major flaw with the centralised generation and distribution model. Balanced on a pinhead so that if something goes down, the rest is likely to go down too. (Or even deliberately down to push up spot prices, as happened one summer a few years ago.)

Distributed generation and storage removes the need for huge distribution networks that cost billions to build and are fragile.

Unfortunately, few companies have the vision to see this and make money from operating this way.
