I don't think posters should fret over the mining licence.

I heard JM say in the Noosa prez he expects it this year.

This is a quarrying operation, not a mine. Environmental issues are minimal. There are no toxic tailings to consider. The land is freehold on which native title is extinguished, though aboriginal custodians have been consulted.

Community consultation revealed few concerns, while the activity - local jobs, a new industry, regional spending, export focus, infrastructure upgrades, each with significant economic multiplier benefits - is very welcome.

SA Mines minister Dan van Holst Pellekaan, member for the adjoining electorate Stuart, is very familiar with the project and is ready to sign the moment the bureaucracy puts the completed approval paperwork before him.
