Yeah, I just re-read his post. Perhaps he means CGT when you sold the shares (which would be initially trading at 15-19c he says).
He says a cost basis of zero, but I would have thought the cost basis would be whatever you had paid for the original shares. So could be a loss or a gain depending. It's definitely messy.
