Just a bit background in case there are some not so savvy investors on this 'beta' term.

Beta is a measure of volatility.

Volatility I like to think of this as the stocks propensity to move...up or down...the unpredictability, the unknown quantity of force...the range of the stock price.

A staple stock like the banks don't tend to have massive ups and downs all the time and so are considered less volatile...I used to think of low volatility like Colgate's stock...passive, day in day out, gentle increases and decreases over time....whereas a small bio stock without revenue will move up and down a lot, oftentimes violently.


Volatility generally comprises of two types, statistical and historical. It's in this way you can measure a given stocks volatility compared to it's past and get a sense of whether it is maturing or whether turbulent times are upon the stock in question.

Once we eventually get revenue and we are a bit more of a liquid and known entity, our volatility should subside, but as Torpy mentions, for now it is rough riding.
