Imo if an increase in price is the aim then a greater impact will be had not from trying to cancel the most shares but from increases in the actual share price.

I got that. Buying at a higher price, they will cancel less shares, I got that, but wasn't the aim to reduce the amount of shares available?
Or was it really just to get the price up? So, the reduction of outstanding shares does not really make the price go up, other than increase the value per share, right ?!
