Rod was a non exec director, which by its nature is a part time position. to say 'it was virtually part time' is a cheap shot in my mind.
Rod is also a professional and would not be so immature to leave at a time to 'stick it up those against him'. unless the board was actually against him, but that's a whole different kettle of fish.
