It's hard to see this as negative. It probably has low chance of a distant pay off but it is still a free spin of the wheel - possibly with better management!
The only possible negative is that it gives SPL an out when it comes to activity reporting and they try and claim credit for activities performed by another entity. I can't see it impacting any current work, the targets need to be agreed and I would hope that SPL wouldn't agree to anything they are already targeting.
