At about 0030 AEST yesterday morning (Tuesday 31 May 2022), a Brisbane to Sydney intermodal train had the rear portion of its train derail a few kilometres south of Kyogle NSW, which is close to the NSW/Queensland state broder, and north of Casino NSW.

There's a maintenance train on its way north this morning: at 0920 AEST, it was 15 kilometres north of Grafton NSW. No reopening date yet, so LAU's railable containers between Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane will be delayed as will a lot of other freight.

Too many derailments, although Federal Government business enterprise Australian Rail Track Corporation would say 'easy for others to criticise'. It can be a defective wagon rather than the track.
