In regards to consolidation have experienced it twice with shares I have owned all though luckily sold out prior to the event one was MGT and the other VTI both lost value.
I think one of the reasons is to be on the radar of investment funds which have rules about investing in penny stocks.
I personally dont like the idea of doing a 10/1 0r 100/1 just seems harder to multiply
