Gas spot price in Sydney/Melbourne now at around $18 per GJ. Could go higher.
It has been cold, dark and cloudy in Melbourne area in last few days and the outlook is not much sunshine. Hope the wind power generators are working hard. Otherwise, the EVs will be using electricity from gas that will cost higher than crude oil. Otway Gas Plant ramping up production to help increase gas supply in Melbourne. Lithium battery not much help when sun doesn’t shine for long periods.
Moomba Gas Plant production has been strong.
Thanks to the extra drilling rig being used. It was just using 4 drilling rigs six months ago.
Melbourne leans on Beach Energy for its energy usage.
