Having wallabies and a reasonable number of fruit trees would indicate you are not in the middle of suburbia so my suggestion would be to allow a half a dozen or more guinea fowl to roam free. They are less trouble than chooks and need the building of no specific housing as they find a tall tree to roost in each night. They are quiet - but not in quite the same way as a domesticated dog/cat and they eat a little grass and forage for insects but also relish the odd handful of chook pellets or wheat. They are excellent watchdogs - calling loudly when a stranger, dog or hawk is spotted. We find they keep the ticks down on our property (Coffs Harbour). Geese are also worth considering. Great for kids to see the hatching of goslings and see them grow.
None of these are applicable if you have near neighbours with dogs/cats. FOXES would also be a problem - get rid of them first which will also be doing our native wildlife a favour.
