Just for a discussion.

If Australia was invaded with muslim carrying weapons and were shooting us.

What country would I seek Asylum.

New Zealand,friendly,safe, being closer and same basic culture.
Where I would assimilate easily.

Or

Afghanistan,who are killing some of my people, a lot further away and difficult to reach, with possibility of drowning, which have a total different culture and laws to what I am comfortable with.

Being smart I would choose New Zealand in an instant.

If I chose Afghanistan, then there must be some hidden agenda I would think.
I could be a Trojan in the modern world.

P.S. I am not against immigration,just people with a culture that will not assimilate with us.

Hence, with us or against us attitude.

I, as most Aussies have friends from distant countries.

I look for quality in friends, not quantity.
