When AZL had nothing else going for it, management invented the myth of the "Battery Corridor," implying that car batteries with 20kg or so of lithium should be made in Arizona even though their total weight of 300kg or so comes from faraway sources. But now that there is little hope of lithium production in Arizona, at least from mines on federal land, we don't talk about how far it is from Arizona to Saskatchewan, on the other side of the Rockies. Lithium concentration in oil brine from Arkansas is three times higher, and there are both an Interstate highway and major railroad lines running that shorter, lower-elevation distance.
