I think the Olympic Dam type discovery is referring to the potential large scale, of a copper mining operation.

This above link is a couple of year's old, but still a good story. The last paragraph puts into perspective of what's on the line here:
Now, two decades of playing second fiddle to iron ore, copper is making a return and in the case of BHP, if not Rio Tinto, could become the biggest profit generator in Australian mining.
