A high volume of trades sent the Piedmont SP rocketing without any announcement in the days leading up to Battery Day last week. ASX queried this and Piedmont requested going into a TH for a few days - taking it past Battery Day last Wednesday.
Piedmont then posted an announcement on their website (them took it down shortly thereafter) saying the they had entered into a “pact” with Tesla. The pact “is conditional on [the two parties] agreeing to a start date between July 2022 and July 2023” – so it could merely be an agreement to make an agreement. Later. Potentially.
By proceeding with the announcement independently before the ASX released it, Piedmont breached Listing Rule 15.7. It will undoubtedly be asked to explain this in the coming week.
