It certainly looks as if CWE has learnt the knack of grantsmanship. It requires dividing a big problem into self contained smaller ones (each seemingly distinct), gaining a smallish grant (of the size that ARENA likes to hand out), and then passing it over to another institution to do the actual work (using those staff - a joint project of course!) They have successfully farmed out several such now.

I suspect that ARENA is aware of this but they like it anyhow. It still gives kudos to ARENA, and uses up some of the remaining funds before Turnbull sucks it dry to put into his ‘new’ CEIF for the upcoming election campaign.

Please don’t mention it anyone, that CWE has already worked out the optimum size for a wave energy convertor years ago.
